Transcript: How Tempus Resource Solves the Problem I Once Believed Was Unsolvable

I often get asked why is it that I am really enthusiastic about Tempus Resource.  The answer is for a very long time my perception was that the one unsolvable problem in the way we were doing projects was that we needed a reliable, easy-to-use resource capacity planning tool because essentially, based on my background, I can go ahead and I can show you how to do the whole front-end portfolio.  I used to be a CFO.  No matter what people in IT do, we know how to solve that problem from finance.  So that’s easy; all of that’s simple.  But when it comes to getting the right people on the right project at the right time and focused on exactly the right work, after a hundred people you need a tool.  Yes, there’s spreadsheets, but the truth is that gets grimily.  It doesn’t give you reports.  It’s so much work.  I’ve sat there with clients and 25-50 percent of their time is spent maintaining those spreadsheets which are only usable by them.

So, absolute need for a tool.  The critical point is also a standalone tool because everybody has their own view on project management tools.  Some like them.  Some don’t.  I just wanted something that didn’t cost a lot of money, didn’t add overhead to the process, gave every organization maximum flexibility by being totally focused on the one problem you can’t execute without.  That is resource capacity planning and Tempus Resource fills the bill nicely.
